Royal Mail – Delivery to Neighbour Policy
Royal Mail has introduced the Deliver to Neighbour policy.
If you are out when Royal Mail tries to deliver an item too large to fit through their letterbox, an attempt to leave the item with a neighbour will be made instead.
Special delivery and international items that require a signature are not included in the initiative and will be returned to the Delivery office rather than be left with a neighbour.
If an item is delivered to a neighbouring property a ‘Something for you’ card will be posted through your letter-box telling you this.
If an item can not be delivered to your address or a neighbour, the item will be returned to the local Royal Mail Delivery Office for collection, or arrange a re-delivery.
The items will be kept at the Delivery Office for 18 days awaiting your collection.
If you prefer not to have any items delivered to a neighbour, you can opt out of the service by contacting Royal Mail https://www.royalmail.com/receiving/change-your-delivery-options
